The Walking Dead: A Living Nightmare (IC, signups...Closed?)

#1 Post by Lief »

Audrey closes the door to the small shed she's been hiding out in for the past day or so, and slides the lock closed. It's sturdy enough, though not anything considerably good. A few pieces of sheet metal sloppily bolted to the door, and a sliding-bolt lock screwed into that. Nothing fantastic, but it works. Audrey sits down on a bag of soil, setting her shoulder-bag down next to her, and leaning the shotgun up against one of the walls. Peaking out through the planks that make up the shed, she sees that nothing was following her, living or otherwise, though it was hard to tell, there wasn't much of a moon tonight. Or maybe there were just a lot of clouds out. With a sigh, she removes her windbreaker and tosses it to the ground, having left the bulletproof insert behind on this particular run. Then she took the machete, and it's sheath, off and set it on the ground next to her. She stretched, and glanced at her wrist for probably the billionth time today, forgetting the all-important fact, yet again, that she had no watch. "Maybe I should start looking for one..." It really wasn't a priority, though, just a habit that really didn't want to die. Grabbing a blanket near her, she re-situated herself to a somewhat comfortable position and proceeded to sleep, no matter how light of a sleep it was.

After a fairly uneventful grocery run, Dom looks up at the darkening sky from his perch on the roof of his house. He looks down at the road and his barricades, seeing his defenses all still standing and no zombies too nearby. He climbs down into his attic, pulling shut the cut away section of roof, where he rests his "gun" against a dresser and drops down on his bed. He glances over at the pulled up staircase that leads into the house, hoping his family had made it somewhere safe. He flicks off the lantern and closes his eyes, taking a long time to fall asleep unnerved by the silence.

Walking down the desolate street, a strange figure made his way across the town in the middle of the night. Heavy duster, helmet, gas mask, pick axe, a strange sight to be sure. The figure kept flickering the light on his helmet on and off at small intervals, something he learned on his journeys. The rotted ones eyes didn't see to well so only flashing a light from time to time didn't attract them, or so he thought, worked so far. Suddenly, the sounds of running footsteps caught the mans attention. A running figure came right at him like a crazed animal but a swing of his pickaxe fixed that problem. And so he continued his little spotlight routine, thankful that the town wasn't swarming with the rotted.

Laura peeked around the corner and saw the light of the strange man she had spotted several times the last week. He scared her more than any of the walkers did. She slowly crept backwards, planning to sneak away before he came to her corner. Unaware of a can standing right next to her foot, she moved and it felt like the sound echoed in the silence.

*Clank*

Laura quickly leaned back onto the wall and gripped her bat tighter. He must've heard it, and if he didn't, some of the walkers did.

The young girl walked silently through the alley, carefully placing each foot so as to make no noise to alert her target.
She'd been following him, well she assumed it was a him from the rough shape and size, for the best part of an hour, hoping to learn more about it, possibly even where it lived if it had a home.
She had her hatchet clasped in her left hand, currently dangling down at her hip.
As they drew to the end of the alley the thing she'd been following rounded the corner to the left.
Liza quickly scaled the ladder of the nearby building and continued following the creature from the safety of the roof one floor up from the ground.
She followed it along the roof for a block and a half, until she was sure it was just wandering randomly.
She clenched her hatchet firmer and waited for the creature to stop.
She quickly hoped onto the edge of the roof and jumped at the creature, hatchet at the ready.
As she was falling the floor to the ground she quickly realized that she'd misjumped, going to far.......... And landing straight on the head of the creature, missing burying her hatchet in it's head.
She quickly rolled to her feet and turned to face the creature.
It stood slowly, it's head now twisted around so that it was pointing left with it's left side closer to the ground than the right side of it's head.
Liza quickly ran at the creature, ducking under it's feeble attempt to grab her before hacking one of it's arms clean off in 2 blows.
She revelled in the slaughter, cackling maniacally as she went about dismembering the creature limb by limb.
She began by chopping of it's other arm, then moved onto slowly and methodically severing it's legs from the knees down.
But she didn't stop there. Once the creature was on the ground she proceeded to chop of it's hip and then decapitated the things' head.
She then finished it all off by pouring kerosene over all the body parts and lighting them all on fire, dancing around the make-shift fire while laughing and smiling.

((And yes, she's completely insane))

I peered through the small gaps in my makeshift barricade. As soon as I got back to my home I took all the planks of wood from my shed and garage and then fixed the over the doors and windows. "Should hold for a while" I looked into my back garden. Nothing there either. I sighed and sat down placing my bladed tonfa on the table. I looked around the romm I was in. Preety secure for now. I placed my feet of the small foot rest and closed my eyes to rest for afew moments. Afew seconds later I heard a loud cry from outside. I bolted up and grabeed my tonfa. I rushed up stairs and into my bedroom and looked out of the window. "Sweet Jesus!" I gasped seeing a large man with a shotgun surrounded by those.. things. Another bang as two heads exploded. "Dammit dammit!" I had to decide in either helping him and get him in here or let him die..

Darell's POV
Darell finished loading the last .45ACP's into the magazine. He swore silently. Looking over to his pile of supplies, he counted up four packages of beefjerky, 6 bottles of water, and a single bag of dried mangoes. If he rationed out his food to the bare minimum, that might just get him through the week. Regardless, there wasn't anything else left to scavenge. Stuffing the supplies into a camping backpack, Darell took one last look at the building that had provided him shelter for the last month, Darell said a small blessing. Despite having not gone to church for at least 3 years, if there was a time to start being religious, now would be it. As he walked down the street, Darell heard the sounds of a shotgun going off. Running around, Darell quickly located the source, a man surrounded by Zacks. Rushing over, Darell took out his gun and walked over to one of the zacks. Tapping it on the shoulder, the zack spun around and made an attempt to bite him. Putting his armored left forearm in front of him, the zack took hold of it, bit it, and failed to penetrate the armor. At the same time, Darell leveled the pistol to Zack's head and pulled the trigger once. The zack dropped dead. He did this one more times and watched with satisfaction as the last few were handled by the man. He sighed, and started approaching the man, only for the man to be pulled down by a zack that was behind him. And behind that zack was a dozen or so other zacks. Darell literally jumped back 4 feet when it happened. Swearing, he ran to a nearby house that seemed barricaded. He attempted to open the door, only for him to realize it was barricaded. He turned to the house and started yelling. "Hey! Open up! Anyone in there?!"

"Dammit.." I looked at the man then at the horde.. "Ah dam it!" I rushed down stairs and quickly unbolted the door and opened it up. I grabbed the man pulling him inside and then slammed the door shut, bolting it again. I looked around the room and then began pushing furniture to the front door and the windows around the room. "Come on then, help me.." I sighed looking through a gap. "Aww [censored].." The small horde were making their way to the door.

Dom wakes, hearing gunfire close by, *someone's alive* He opens his roof, climbing out on top to look around and sees a horde swarming against a house. He climbs down from his roof onto his bulked up fence and runs across to the roof of the house behind his. he lays down on the back side of that roof and crawls up to see across the street. *I can't believe I didn't know someone was over here.* He twists a 12-gram CO2 cartridge into his paintball gun and starts firing into the horde, drawing some of them away from the house, even injuring some of the older ones.

The sound of a can draw his attention slightly. His first thought was nothing more then another rotten fleshbag. Slowly making his way towards the corner as he gripped tightly his pick axe. Slowly but surely he saw nothing coming out and didn't hear anything else, certainly no shambling moronic walking corpse that has a habit of bumping into everything in its way. Although all of a sudden, when he was seconds away from seeing around the corner, the sound of a shotgun caught the mans full attention as he twisted his head around to see where the shotgun shot came from. A survivor maybe but the sound itself would attract the rotten from miles around, which was bad for him.

Audrey bolted upright, surprised by the sound of a shotgun firing. With a bit of reluctancy, she grabbed her shotgun and unlocked the door, proceeding to peak out to see what was going on. Then there was the sound of a... Pistol being fired? Sounded like a .45. "Well... I guess I'm not the only one left... But that's not a good idea." She sighs and grabs her machete and windbreaker before heading towards the source of the sound, albeit quite cautiously.

The tattooist's ears perked up to the sound of gunfire. Shotgun to be precise. Somebody else was alive out here, and they had a gun.
Liza stopped dancing around her small corpse fire and quickly went about heading towards the spot where the gunfire came from.
Just to be cautious she climbed back onto the roofs and made her way north 2 blocks.
She crept to the edge of the roof she was on and could see the creatures attacking a barricaded house, as well as a small group that were making their way towards another house on the other side of the small square.
She quickly, yet quietly, scrambled from roof to roof until she was next door to the barricaded house. She couldn't get up onto that roof as the ladder had been pulled all the way up.
Instead she looked down the 2 stories to the ground.
At least there's a lot of padding down there. Plus that's about the only way into the house with the others inside. I'll give it a minute and see if anybody else shows up and then I'll make a decision.

When Laura heard the gunshots, her heart started to beat faster. There were more alive! But all that noise would surely attract more walkers. She had a safe place that she could use and she knew that there were a large group of walkers nearby. She dared peak around the corner again, remembering the Mask, as she had named him in her mind and was relieved when she saw he had turned away. This was the time to do something. Either let him walk away, stay alone and let him most likely be overwhelmed by a massive amount of walkers or approach him and take him to the safe house. It wouldn't hurt, would it? With that in mind, she turned the corner and awkwardly coughed.

"Uhm... Hi."

Abegail sat on the roof of a small quaint house, watching the strange, light-flickering figure's slow advance through the town. Her bag was tightly clipped around her waist, her bloodied wrench in a velcro wrap on one side, designed for a machete or some other type of camping tool. She loosely gripped her hammer, unseen in the shadows as the new girl introduced herself. There was more alive. Now was this a good or a bad thing?
With a smooth movement, she jumped from the roof, hooking the rear blade of the hammer into the water drain along the edge. Hanging in space for just a moment, she tugged the hammer out, and hit the ground below almost silently, breaking her fall with a roll. Shimmying to the fence, she poked her head up over the edge to observe the pair.

Dom stopped firing as his gun ran out of air, deciding against reloading since about half of the horde from the front of that house had turned to try to get at him. He pulls his staff of of the clip on his back and moved to crouch over the edge of the roof, using the staff to smash some of the zombies heads as they worked there way closer to the house. "Anyone okay over there?!" he shouts as he continues to hit the zombies, slowly whittling away at the portion of the horde that had been attracted by his firing.
