Changing Times (Sign Ups always open)

#1 Post by the red soldier »

(Oh lord... this is going to be one long intro...)

In the realm of the Gods, the cloud of the Heavens, the great paradise of the afterlife, gloom and despair filled the air, corruption seeping from the pure clouds as they slowly turned grey, a clear sign to all of the holy deities of his eventual release, the eventual madness to come. The many gods of the realm seemed to unite under the throne of the God of Gods, which remained empty and desolate for over 5 thousand years. As the shouting match that could shake the world to its very core commenced, the differing views of the opposite gods were made clear to all across the heavens but soon, when it came to the final matter of the day, the real reason they were all there, everyone seemed to turn against the seat occupied by what could only be described as a glowing orb of light. "You can all see the madness growing, I urge you all, brothers and sisters, to act with me. We cant let him loose once more onto the mortal world. His vengeance will surely destroy the heavens themselves."

Everyone seemed to frown at the Orb of light. Then a giant figure, wielding a mighty axe stood up and laughed. "HIS VENGEANCE IS RIGHTLY PLACED AFTER YOU WRONGED HIM VERMIN OF LIFE!" "You would dare.." "OF COURSE I WOULD AND I STAND BEHIND THE MADNESS! YOUR SO CALLED PROSPERITY IS AN AFRONT TO TRUE MEN OF COURAGE! THIS WORLD HAS GROWN FAT AND WEAK, WAR WILL MARCH AGAIN WITH MADNESS! SO SAYS OORM, GOD OF WAR!" With a swing of his mighty axe, he vanished in an explosion of bloodshed.

Then, a green figure, snakes for hair as he wielded a finely crafted red bow. stood up and made a small honorable bow. "I to stand with the mad One once more. Your actions have been dishonorable. " "I expected you of all people to know better." "What do you know of me?! What do you know of the forests and the wilds?! Do you do nothing more then laugh as your so called civilization tramples over my beautiful forests?! As they feed of the destruction of the wilds?! I am sorry but madness will march, for the sake of nature it must. So says Gorgon the hunter, lord of the wilds." With one move, he shot an arrow upwards as it spread in brightly red ribbons, surrounding him as he vanished.

Up next, a giant rat, half decayed and surrounded by flies got up as his voice seemed bloated, a green mist coming from his breath. "Ke-he-he-he... No need my opinion but I'll say it just for spite. Madness brings disease, decay and corruption! Ke-he-he-KHA-HA-HA-HA! BRING THE MADNESS! SO SAYS VAR THE GREAT PLAGUE! " With that, he seemed to vanish in a cloud of flies as his body rotted into nothing.

As the next one got up, a dark, green mist surrounded the small figure as silhouettes of skulls formed in the mist. "My allegiance with Muortaire has never faltered, even in the past of 5 millenniums. The underworld will see to it that madness returns to the realms, so says Hasha, Baroness of the Underworld." Making a small bow, she just seemed to back up into the green mist and disappear.

Now only the orb of light and another figure stood in the room, as it got up, its bizarre figure could not be describe with any form of accuracy as it was truly odd. "Goddess of life... truly you... know when to... just give up..." The orb of light simply fluttered around. "I will never give up on life, on hope. I would rather sacrifice myself then see him in power." "Truly... unwise Goddess... Truly... foolish... Goddess." The figure slowly moved as its four hands conjured what looked like an hourglass, the sands slowly dropping as the strange figure smiled. "The time... you have left... my goddess... be warned... your brother... will not be stopped... so says... Machanux... He who knows... everything..." The figure suddenly started to disintegrate into a pile of sand, only a small pile of it remaining

The ball of light simply fluttered around the empty room dreading the tide that was to come, there was absolutely nothing it could do. "God of Order, I wish you were still here..."

MEANWHILE Its good to play this as you read this part, kinda sets what Muortaire is like.

Pass the impassable mountains, in the massive fields of barren wastes of emptiness and nothing, stood the only thing worth mentionning, and what a sight it is. A giant cathedral like tower, towering into the heavens itself, surrounded by fields of red soses of all things. Inside the tower stood the dark figure himself, looking out one of the windows with a giant grin on his face. "HEheHEheHEheHEheHE... How could she escape... HEheHEheHEheHE... HOW COULD SHE ESCAPE?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Behind him, a four winged angel stood, listening to his mad rambling. "I have checked everything as you ordered lord... It was easy for her to just leave as she grew a consciousness..." "CONSCIOUSNESS?! HAHAHAHAHAHA! SHE'S A TOOL! NOTHING MORE!" "But sir-" Dark chains suddenly popped out of the ground as it engulfed the winged man. "I dont... HEheHEheHE... care about your... khpfftheheheheh... opinion... Just find her..." The Angel seemed to grasp for hair as the chains crushed his throat and arms. "As you "gasp" command "wheeze" Lord Muortaire..."

IN THE SMALL TOWN OF FALSEN...

The small town of Falsen, a popular farming town and stop for adventurous souls looking for old ruins and treasure. The place seemed more packed then ever as more and more adventurous souls came to look for myths and legends as the rumors of famine in the mainland slowly came true. A small girl in a red dress was weighting one table after another at the local inn as customers a plenty came rolling in for a bite to drink and a bit of ale. "Miss! Another Ale!" Coming! "WHEREZ MEE TURKAY LEEG!" "Almost done!" "200 gold coins if young sing and dance on our table miss!" "Not a chance boys!" The inn simply exploded with chatter and laughter as the many groups filled its tables.

Dale looked out the window he smiled and for once felt at ease, he usual did here...it was the only place he did the laughter and good humors of the inn was comforting. in fact he felt the best he had in a few years he took a sip of all and called out"and people would rather be rich! HA!" he signaled at the waitress, "ah come on be a sport! that voice is beautiful! at least sing a few bars, tell ya what not only will I join in, if ye men will permit me. laughter came across the inn, Dale could sing but in church and the drunken bar songs he only carried a few notes in bass cleft and they were low. but I'll help ya with the afternoon rush free of charge!"

"*Sigh*... How could I forget that there was a pressure switch under that statue...?" Matthew sat on his bed in his newest residence, the town jail. "Alright Jim, he's all yours. He's been pretty quiet lately, just been sulking in the corner all day." Cross looked up and grinned. The shift switch always made for an interesting escape time, and he'd had just about enough of the hard and lumpy bed in his cell. He stood up, slipped into a corner and blended himself into the shadows. As the guard came over to his cell to check on him, he looked in and saw an empty bed and no sign of the legendary thief. "What the?! He's gone!" He opened the cell to find out how Matthew could have possibly gotten out and as he cleared the doorway, Matt lifted his keys and slammed the cell closed, locking the guard inside. "Why is it always so easy to fool you guys with that trick?" Matthew spun the ring of keys on his finger and smiled at the dumbfounded guard. "Don't worry, I'll leave the keys on the table for you so your buddy can release you in the morning. For now you can sit there and try and come up with a good excuse as to how a kid like me outsmarted a man like you." He chuckled and tossed the keys on the desk as he casually strolled out the door.

Several minutes later, Matt found himself outside an inn, muttering to himself how he must be losing his touch. "Must be that weird aura I've been feeling since I got here... I haven't felt right all day." He stepped into the inn and took a seat at the bar, signaling to the waitress as he sat down. "You folks have good tea here ma'am? I could really use something to lift my spirits and nothing does that like a good cup of tea." Matt reached into his pocket to pull out his pocket watch, which once belonged to a very wealthy man in the big city, only to find it missing. "Uh, pardon me a moment..." He looked around to try and see if maybe he dropped it when he noticed a cat sitting across the room with the watch in it's mouth. He got up and slowly approached the cat. "Here kitty kitty kitty... You've got something that belongs to me and I would very much like it back..."

Victoria

The girl was busy going from one table to another as she balanced a tray in each hand. "They got something called caramel water just for the kids!" She said winking to the tall figure. "Known to rot your teeth though so don't drink to much!" When one of them started riling up the crowd and offered to sing himself, she just tossed her trays to the bartender, he knew exactly what she was gonna do. "Ok then, pretty boy..." Grabbing both of his hands and dragging him on one of the tables, she pulled up her red dress a bit as some of the men began to whistle. "I hope you know how to dance!"

"Yipe!" Ever fleet-footed, Matt quickly dodged to the side as the cat leaped at him, knocking over a table in the process. "Why you!" He easily recovered and dove after the feline, hands extended and open, grasping for the furry thief.

"And I thought I was the best thief around. Fuzzy little monster..." Matt paused for a moment and stared the cat down. He slowly reached for the cat, then without any kind of warning, vanished. Matt reached out and snatched the watch from the beasts mouth and grabbed the cat with his other hand, pinning it down by the back of it's neck. He picked it up by the scruff and slowly came back into view, fading in from the shadows. Cross stood up and held the clearly pissed off feline in front of him at arms length so it couldn't claw at him and stuffed the watch back into his pocket. "Never steal from Matthew Cross little buddy, you'll never get away." He walked back up to the bar and held the cat in the air, addressing the patrons. "Whose cat is this?"

"Don't worry about it, I caught him and got my watch back, so no harm done.. aside from the table I knocked over.. oops." Matt handed the cat over to the man who approached him and walked over to the table he tipped over a moment ago, setting it upright. "Name's Matthew, Matthew Cross," he said, turning to face the man again.

The inn's door smashed open as a figure, taller than most of the men in the room stepped in. His golden colored eyes scanned the room as all sound died out. He was carrying a deer over his shoulder which he, after entering the inn and having approached a table, let down on the floor with a loud thump. He sat down and when a waitress approached he flicked a gold coin to her and spoke:

"Food and ale."

As the waitress went away, the infamous Orc Ragan, picked up his skinning knife and started sharpening it with long drawn-out sounds. Life started to return to the inn but many still cast nervous glances at the Orc.

Andrei unmounted his horse, lead it to the stall, gave her food and water, and after a few minutes of stroking her he turned around and entered the Inn. a few turned around, suspicious after seeing the orc enter, but after seeing Andrei's golden hair, green eyes, attractive face, and hearty smile, they relaxed and the inn returned back to its joyful state. Andrei pretends to not notice how a few ladies were red and avoided his gaze.
and to the bewilderment of most, he sits down on the table with the Orc.
"hello!"
the remaining suspicious glances at the orc stopped. I mean, there was a warrior with sword and full plate sitting there, obviously to act quickly when the monster tried anything. obviously... right?
Andrei turned around and watched the happy commotion, and the dancing pair with a big, almost innocent smile. he started clapping to the rythm of the dancers, and soon many followed suit.
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

"Right then, I'll come back after some supper; We can work out the details then." Alec closed the door behind him and started walking down the hallway. "If James really thinks he can sell me that for five-hundred, then he must be a fool."

Alec kept musing to himself until he arrived to the inn's main lobby. "Well, seems like the crowd has already started to gather." He found an open table and removed his overcoat before taking his seat. Alec looked around, hoping the a waiter or waitress would come around soon. He eyed the two getting ready to dance. "Well what do you know? Dinner and a show!" He cheered along with the people around him.

Dale smiled and let himself get dragged. he finnaly had a use for his dad's never ending lessons on proper etiquette if this was Victoria being fickle, well better to kill time and loose some stress. "Dance...that's a subject that was instilled into me...'proper behavior' the questions are, what's the dance,you want to lead or shall I? also name the song and tempo."

Victoria, Darus

Grabbing both of his arms, Victoria came close to the man, being faced to face, she stared into his eyes and gave a sinister grin. "Ever heard of tango?" Suddenly, a purple rose poofed between the two. Victoria grabbed it and practically shoved it into the mans mouth. "I hope you have quick feet..." She extended her hand, in a small stance, she waited for Dale to start it off.

Meanwhile, up in the sky, an angelic figure soared through the sky, looking in the mountain side. "What do I do? Can I really do this?" He said to himself as he pondered. "I dont have a choice... I cant go against the oath..." He suddenly picked up speed as he saw a small village in the distance. "No going back now..."

Alpha, Kaito's POV
Alpha and Kaito walked into the inn. Alpha was missing an arm(Though it was covered by a cloak.), panting, and about to collapse from exhaustion. Kaito was merely standing and taking a seat. Alpha plopped into the seat across from him. "The hell was that?! A dragon. I KNOW IT WAS A DRAGON. I'M ASKING WHY WE HAD TO GO ATTACK AN DRAGON. Simple. Because of this." Kaito put a small Dagger on the table. Alpha looked down at the dagger, looked at Kaito, and looked at the dagger again. He repeated this motion a few more times before slamming both arms on the table. "YOU MADE ME CUT OFF MY LEFT ARM AND THREW IT TO THE DRAGON WHILE RUNNING AWAY, FOR THAT?!" Kaito just looked up, grinned slightly, and pointed at Alpha's left arm. "It's back already." Noticing this, Alpha sat down with a few grumbles while Kaito called over the waitress, who was starting to dance with some guy. "Excuse me miss."

Alec watched as the couple (Victoria and Dale) we getting ready to put on a show for the crowd. "Well that's cute, conjuring flowers."

"Yeah, she know's how to play the crowd all right." One of the other waitresses was standing at Alec's table. "She's really popular with the men, as you can no doubt tell. Anyways, what can I get you tonight Alec?"

He considered his options for a few seconds. "I'll take some steak, medium-rare if you can; also, I'd like a pint of scotch." Alec's hand dove into his pocket for a moment before resurfacing with a handful of coins. "Here you go Bridget," he placed the coins on the table. "That should be enough for the meal. Feel free to keep the rest as a tip. The girl smiled as she picked up the payment and walked back into the kitchen. "Might as well enjoy the performance while I can, the meal is going to take a while." Alec shrugged off his overcoat and put his legs on one of the other chairs at the table.
