The heroes hour (Always open)

#1 Post by the red soldier »

The grand city of Epica! The last free city state in the world after the conquest of the evil Lord Marshal and his limitless army of brainwashed servants. For centuries the city stands proudly in defiant of the evil tyrant thanks to the help of the many heroes inhabiting the city. Some of them just want to defend there homes, others are simply after wealth and fame while pure hearts do it for the people but the end result is the same, the city still stands and the Lord Marshal is no closer to conquering it now then he was 300 years ago. But to assume that the Lord Marshal is the only danger to the grand city is foolish, many vie for power, for greed, for whatever there dark hearts desire and there corruption is as much a threat then the Lord Marshal.

But not today it seems, the screams of the innocent and the thundering sound of a hundred tanks smashing through buildings was a clear sign of what was coming, a Marshal raid. One of the tanks, a giant monstrosity of a machine roared across the city, running over 3 story buildings and some of his own tanks who got in the way. A giant dark figure stood at the helm of it, between the tanks two cannons, the Lord Marshal. "K-K-K-HAHAHAHAHAHA! FIRE THE MAIN GUNS!" The two massive cannons erupted to life as a 50 story skyscraper came crashing down in front of them. "K-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! FIRE AGAIN!" Again, the cannons roared to life as a massive explosion could be seen in the distance.

As the rampage continued, the sound of it deafened the large motorbike coming there way. A strange figure, samurai looking with a large lance in one hand sped from street to street, his bike blasting at supersonic speeds as the windows of nearby buildings blew to pieces. Turning a tight corner, a tank came into view, speeding right at it, his lance torr threw the tanks left side as it erupted into flames. Spinning the lance in the air, a bright red beam shot out of its tip as two more tanks erupted into balls of fire.

Speeding through a couple of other streets, he stopped right face to face with the massive armada of tanks, the massive tank right behind the horde. "SO YOU COME AT LAST TRAITOROUS HOUND!" Waving his staff around, he pointed it at the would be insignificant motorbike and the fireworks show began. The bike sped to life, dodging the raining shells of the tanks as explosions surrounded the man, one swipe there and another here, his lance went through the tanks like butter, making a large swath right towards the massive tank in the back. "FIRE! FIRE!" The Lord Marshal screamed when the massive cannons of the giant tank shot right in the middle of the horde of his own tanks, the explosion, making it rain shards of metal as far as the eye could see when, all of a sudden, the bike jumped right out of the fireball. In the middle of the air, the man jumped off the bike, lance in hand as the bike erupted into hundreds of missiles, raining down on the giant tank.

"NAAAaaaAAAoooOOOooo!! NOT AGAI-" He didn't have time to finish his sentence when the lance smacked right on his forehead, as soon as the lance hit, it fired off a massive beam of energy, the Lord Marshal flying off with the beam as he slammed into the massive tanks turret, followed by a giant explosion dew to the massive tank ripping in half. "Did... did I finally get him?"

Glint, Ellie's POV
Glint rushed down the street, flying in between the 6 tanks that were charging down one of the streets that was under his technical jurisdiction while dodging the machinegun and cannon fire. As soon as he managed to get around to the back of one of the tanks, he landed, turned around as the 6 laser cannons on his back swept down and over his shoulder(like This), and fired. Each of the 6 cannons charged up for a second, glowing brightly, before letting loose 6 beams of pure energy. Each of the 6 beams found a tank and punched through the armor and igniting the ammo within, causing a massive and awe inspiring explosion. Looking upon the destruction the 6 beams caused, Glint let out a whistle and started to walk down the street the tanks were crashing through. "Too easy. Don't know why he choose tanks.... I mean, wouldn't a bunch of foot soldiers have worked better? Of course, then again it's not as flashy..." As he walked down the street, one of the Marshall's troops got out of the smoking ruin of a tank. With a scream of rage, the man lifted his rifle, and pulled the trigger. Glint dashed slightly to the front, pointed his assault rifle at the man, and let loose 4 rounds. The 12.7x99mm rounds punched through the man, tearing him apart. Glint continued forward and eventually made it to Main street. Glint managed to get there just in time to watch Noir tear through the Marshall and the tank. With a sudden burst of the thrusters, Glint flew up and landed besides Noir. "I doubt it. The man's come back from much worse. If he died that easily, I don't think we'd be required."

Ellie was sitting in her chair and watching the battle out of the window of her office at the top of one of the high rises. Thankfully, the Marshall's tank's round have missed it entirely. "Hmm..... Interesting." A knock on her door broke her attention on the battle as she spun around to face the door. "Yes. What is it." A man slowly opened the door and did a small bow as he walked in. "Ma'am, the company has managed to acquire the old church. Shall we begin demolishing it for the new Mall immediately?" Ellie nodded in approval and the man walked out the door. As soon as the man was gone, Ellie stood up and put her arms behind her as she looked out at the city before her. "Soon..."

(OOC: I've decided to go with Ellie being an evil company owner. The stereotypical comic one.)

A girl with dusky black hair cowered in an alley, crouching in a ball as the explosion rocked a nearby building. She held her head up, looking around as she walked towards the site of the carnage. All of a sudden, a wave of shadow swelled in front of her, dripping and flowing like a mixture of tar and fog. It whispered in a distinctly female voice. "Hello there, sweetheart..." She said, chuckling, her gurgling voice filled with malace. The fog that made up her wispy form fell over the girl, smothering her cries as she fell to pieces, her mass sucked into Quantum's embrace.

A girl with dusky black hair stumbled out of the alley, limping slightly with tears in her eyes. Her voice wavered as she looked at Noir, her lips moving as she tried to speak. "I-i-is it over? Are...are th-they gone?"

Ellie's POV
Ellie watched as one of the inhumans rushed past the window of her office and then to the top of her office high rise. Sighing, she walked over to her table and picked up the phone, hitting one of the buttons. It rung once before a man picked up. "Jasper, cancel the rest of my appointments. It seems I must clear the city of some rodents before any of the company's property is destroyed. Very well Ma'am." Putting the phone down, she walked over to a pair of hidden doors in the office. Opening it, the doors revealed an armor assembly area.(Think Iron Man.) After the armor finished assembling around her, the doors closed and the floor moved to a small hidden cave beneath the office towers. Ellie walked out of the cave, the exit somewhere in the subways. She climbed through a service entrance and onto the streets. All around her were bodies and flaming wrecks. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a person(Illyssa) standing over a pair of bodies. She engaged the dual chainswords and moved in.

Noir, Lord Marshal

Noir looked next to him, the android figure. "Makes sense..." He simply said, his dad would have killed him by now if he was that easy to take down. The fact was that this was probably the 3rd crack at the Marshal and the first time he actually managed to land a blow at him. He wanted to ask what to expect next but he didn't want to give away that he was some newbie using his dads toys. Didn't matter much though as the wreckage of a tank suddenly flew towards the two. Jumping out of the way, Noir looked at the Lord Marshal walking towards them. "You know... You have a nasty HABIT of DESTROYING my favorite TANKS... jacka**... " Grabbing his staff from the ground, he held it in one hand like a bat. "Come on ALREADY! Growing slow in your old age?! Or are you going to let that bot there fight for you?!" Noir got up and prepared his lance. "Mind giving me support?" He asked the robot thing.

(Keep in mind, Noir doesn't know any other hero so introductions would be in order, not right now though...)

Glint, UO's POV
Glint nodded as the Lord Marshal once again, got up from a seemingly lethal wound, and started to taunt Noir. "Sure. Might as well.". Gunning the thrusters, Glint levitated a little bit above the ground, arms by his side. "Ready when you are." Glint took a look on one of the readouts on his HUD, giving a mental sigh of relief when he saw that he still had about 5 hours of time left.

Meanwhile, Omega started to walk towards Illyssa. A weird shadow thing was trying to harass her with petty insults, knives, and low caliber weapons. Too bad all of them were just too damn weak to even scratch the armor, let alone puncture. As she got near Illyssa, the chainswords finished revving up. With one quick move, she suddenly dashed forward and past Illyssa, attempting to cut Illyssa in half across the waist as she dashed past her.

UO's POV
Omega merely dashed to the side and down, avoiding both the rounds. She threw the two swords up for a second and gripped them by the secondary handles, using them as tonfas now. She dashed forward, through the stream of water, and towards the second flyer. She dashed past him once again, this time attempting to cut him in the same fashion that was attempted on Illssa moments ago, only this time, she stopped the dash halfway just as the sword was about to hit him and spun around to his back. Omega then attempted to sink the chain tonfa at close range into the man's back.

UO's POV
Omega dodge underneath the water blade and slid into a nearby subway service hatch. The hatch collapsed in a single blow as Omega ducked inside, avoiding both the shades. Omega soon disappeared into the tunnels.

a dark shadow leapt form another tank, as he did a massive dark spike pierced it's engine and shot straight through the hull, exploding it, he then landed behind noir and the robot. his yellow eyes showed annoyance, he began speaking, "and you sir, make God awful tanks...also you have a habit of destroying very good structures...i think that was my favorite library back there..." he then looked at the two in front of him "shadow by the way...mind if i join in on this? becasue that blow should have killed him...and it didn't...what are you made out of anyway? Titanium and diamond?"

Noir, Lord Marshal

The Lord Marshal just yelled back at the shadow thingy. "WHAT DO YOU KNOW?! DID YOU CONQUER 99.9 PERCENT OF THE WORLD?!" The metal feet of the Lord Marshal began to charge towards the group of heroes, with every footstep the ground seemed to shake a little. "K-HAHAHAHA! I'LL BE DRINKING FROM YOUR SKULLS SOON ENOUGH AND BE SUCKING OUT YOUR BONE MARROW FOR LUNCH!" "I didn't need that image in my head... BUT NOW ITS TIME FOR YOU TO DIE! THE WORLD HAS HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR DESTRUCTION!" Noir started charging himself, lance at the ready as he became in range, he swung at the Marshal only for it to be blocked by his right hand. With his other hand, the Marshal swung his staff, hitting Noir right in the center of his torso, a large cracking sound heard, as he went crashing into a building a few yards away. The Marshal just brushed off his hands, with a grin on his face. "You've really gotten rusty old nemesis! ALL RIGHT THEN! WHO'S NEXT?!"

Ex Machina
Hearing the explosions and screams he knew that could only mean one thing. "Oh [censored], Lord Marshal!", donning his suit he exited the building and saw the nearby tanks. "What a great way to start", landing on the closest tank before it noticed him he created an orb of extreme gravity he opened the entry hatch up. Taking out his sword he entered and slaughtered all the occupants. Getting a hold of the controls he made short work of the nearby tanks. "Well that was fun, what next?" suddenly he heard a huge explosion and saw a ball of flame go up in the sky. "Better go see if anyone needs my help", he ran to the location, spotting the other heroes and Lord Marshall. "You guys need any help?".

Santa Muerte
Looking at the chaos and death below she sighed, "Forgive me Lord for I must bloody my hands once more for those who cant fight for themselves". Calling forth her powers she felt the mask of bone replace her face and the pagan circles burn them selves on the back of her hands. Jumping down she landed getting the attention of two tanks. She dispatched the first one by sending a spike of bone down the barrel as it shoot at her. The other got one shoot off but she dodged it easily. "Lucifer!" she shouted extending her right arm, the circle glowing on the of her hand an angry red before a ball of black and purple fire erupted from it, melting the tank and leaving all occupants dead. Running to the source of the giant explosion and saw the other heroes and Lord Marshall as well. Do you require any assistance?, and before you ask, yes I am a hero".
"Its not overkill unless you can't do it bigger, better, and with more uneeded explosions"

Shadow pointed at himself looking at the grim reaper-esqe form before him. "I'm not one to judge am I? OK....4.5 since noir's punted...OK then...we stand a chance...in hell. he then turned to the lord marshal ok then... you my good sir are a (Censord) lunatic." he raised his hand and blasted a stream of ADM at the Marshal, it attempted to find any crack in the armor, any imperfection, trying to squeeze in and expand meanwhile original mass shot out spikes that could pierce tanks...but all the while in his head he kept thinking "my sense of impending doom says this is not going to do anything...and stands a better than even chance of me getting punted at noir...

Quantum watched from the entrance to the alley at the stand-off. Letting herself a small, sadistic smile, a deeply disturbing look on the face of such an innocent form, she swept back into the darkness, dissolving from the disguise as she whipped around the building, unusually quick, her new vantage point providing her a perfect view of the gathering of heroes. She examined each of them, her form flickering from one hero to the next as they divided her thoughts. Finally, her eyes landed on the Lord Marshal some distance away. Curious. Processing the new information, she returned to the form of the dusky-haired girl, not even bothering to stay hidden as she observed the conflict.

Alex looked down on the city from the top of a radio tower-like structure. All around the city, pockets of combatants fought against one another. "So much destruction, so much death. Why?" He said aloud. For the past few years, Alex had watched the city fight off whatever and whoever decided to attack it. There never seemed to be peace in the city, it was always in a state of war. Taking off one of his glove, Alex puts a hand on one of the three cables supporting the tower, and let’s bolts of raw electricity arc between his hand and the cable. He left his feet up, and slide down the cable, coming to a stop at a building near a battle between what appeared to be a living shadow, and a humanoid...wolf? Fox? Alex hadn't seen anything like it, but decided to watch at a distance when he noticed the shadow controlled water. Lots and lots of water.
We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Harvey takes a seat in juli's bar. he nods to Juli, the wiry blackhaired female owner of the establishment. he's a regular by now, coming almost every day for the last four years. and always taking the most alcoholic mixture available. its a joke really. Alcohol has barely affects his kind, and him not at all thanks to the nanites in his system. he scans the room. normal people, working people, all used to the constant battling in the city. they don't even pay attention to the TV anymore. Harvey watched it for a few seconds:

-hello again by KKC news network, here Katherine smith for you daily. so, whats going on today joe?
-Lord marshal attacks again. he destroyed a few city blocks but got held up by Noir again
-what surprising news. anything else this morning? (harvey almost laughs out loud at the obvious sarcasm of the news moderator)
-oh yeah! Microsoft and warthog studios presented their newest upcoming sequel, "Freelancer two". they promise realistic scaling of ships to the universe and each other , a excellent story, and promised to bring the old Starlancer or wingcommander feel back.
-that's great news Joe!

Harvey's attention is drawn back to the counter. Juli finished mixing his drink of death, slides the glass over to him, bending forward and revealing her cleavage to him. what she wants to achieve with that mystifies Harvey, she knows him good enough. he thanks her and takes a sip. Drink of death isn't an extravagation. it burns like napalm. and with that he doesn't mean that sensation in one's throat. some though guy challenged him once. after his first glass he was hospitalized. alcohol poisoning. had he smoked he would have been one fire.

Harvey likes to remember back to those moments.
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.
