Malcolm stared at Ang'hal intensd studying him by perspective. Then in his usual around soldiers voice. "You give too much credit to yourself. I could care less whether your flight training came from Phoenix Academy or on the back of a box of cereal. All I want to know is if you are capable. The Academy gives you the basics in flying, combat and survival in it. The real stuff you'll be facing is up to you. My reason in asking you this question is because I wish to see you fly in the field. I want you to be the first non-Dark Watch pilot to fly in a Dark Watch mission. How does that sound?"

Ka'el couldn't hide his surprise.

Sir, are you sure this is wise? The Watch has only the best, and letting one of the regulars fly with us could be disastorous.

Was this why Feltcher had called him up here, to see how he would react to such a proposal?

I'm sure he's good but, are you sure you want to risk the lives of the other members of the Watch?

Malcolm smirked at Ka'el. "Risk what? You said it yourself. Only the best get in here and shouldn't be no mission too impossible for either or anyone else in my Team. To adapt in any given or sudden situation is key part to survival. Besides don't think of Ang'hal so lowly. I'm sure he's capable enough to at least hold his own. Besides at least he has given the time to know the Pride."

Now Ka'el was getting angry.

Sir, I have been in the hangar every day, making sure my Interceptor is in perfect working order, so I am ready at a moment's notice. The last thing I need is for my ship to fail me out there. I'm sure you understand.

Ka'el did his best to keep his voice civil, and decided against bringing up the matter of the strange noise the engine kept making.

((Well, this is different to last time. Ka'el was Malcolm's favourite, now he's the upstart it seems.))

Ang'hal was totally shocked when Malcolm said he would be flying with dark watch. It was just so unheard of for a regular to fly or even fight alongside them unless it was an all out conflict. He remained silent while Ka'el and Malcolm seemed to be 'politely' arguing. Ang'hal almost instantly realized that Malcolm seemed to be setting him and Ka'el against each other maybe to force a competition of some kind. Ang'hal really didn't care though if the leader wanted to do it he could and if Ka'el wanted to prove he was better then him then he could try as hard as he wanted but Ang'hal wouldn't get involved in it. He learned long ago that once combat begins everyone that isn't shooting at you is your friend. Then Ang'hal jumped into the increasingly tense conversation by saying, "Sir it would be a great honor to fight or fly alongside the Dark Watch, thank you very much for the opportunity. But sir with all due respect may I ask why me?"
