Age of Steam (Open for all!)

#1 Post by the red soldier »

The streets of Vezuli, you couldn't find a place with this many stalls and shops. Everywhere you look, as far as the eye can see, there was traders bargaining, trading, gold being thrown around and people making or losing there lifes savings in deals, thats Vezuli, the golden throne, the city of business. Mercenaries walked the streets, looking for employments, Fat cats drove in there golden trimmed chariots as they snubbed people in there way as musicians sing and played songs for hand out, filling the streets with music and joy.

One of the merchants seemed to stand out from the bunch, a man with skin made of glass, wearing a telescopic visor. "That's an outright steal! I'd never pay more then 25 silvers per fur!" The man said aloud to another merchant. "This is high quality fur coming straight from the Salvanen beastmen clans, don't insult me with such a rubbish price!" The man with the glass skin limped a bit in front, inspecting it then began to laugh. "Please! Anyone with a good eye can see this is from elven Tribes, it has there knife marks and leather! Clearly cheaper then the beastmens!" Suddenly, several heads whom had just bought from him turned there heads with an angry look. "I-I dont what your talking about!" The merchant suddenly grew close and whispered into his ears. "27 silvers per fur." The man of glass smiled and said. "On second look, it doesn't look like elven fur after all, must be beastmen. My bad eye must be playing tricks on me." The angry heads let out a sigh and left. "I'll be taking twenty bear furs and ten owlbear furs. Both at the same price." The merchant mumbled and cursed under his breath but gave in. "Here, now please leave and have a nice day."

As workers were packing the fur into Czirs cart, an angelic girl flew above the glass man, her beauty only matched by her grace in the air. "Boy Czir, you had a pretty sweet deal, I probably would have bought it at full price." She said with a smile. "But did you have to be so mean and blackmail him?" Czir laughed aloud at the comment. "He's the one selling elven fur and saying its beastmen! He had it coming." The angel simply frowned. "Humans are so cruel to each other." "And that's why you don't see servant as merchants, there rubbish when it comes to bluffing and getting ahead!" The angel frowned again and flew away. "You don't have to be so mean!" She said before flying away. "Aw come on Lily, I was only joking!" Czir sighed as he walked away a bit, into a workshop called the Mr. Velera's workshop. As he walked in, he called out. "Hello, anyone here?"

Ex was absent mindedly wandering through the vast marketplaces of Vezuli when he overhead a heated arguement between two merchants.
"...good eye can see this is from elven Tribes, it has there knife marks and leather! Clearly cheaper then the beastmens!"
Ex laughed. He'd seen that very merchant, with the shady goods, selling the same things the day before and had inspected them himself. This man, with what appeared to be some glass skin, was absolutely right, the goods were from the elven tribes. Ex stopped and listened to the conversation, but shook his head when the glass skinned man claimed that he had been mistaken all along. Humans were so easy to be swayed by money and other material pleasures. Ex continued watching as a girl with bright white wings flew above the glass skinned man and began to critisize him for being so mean.
This girl understands humans better than the man...but seems a little niave, he thought. Although humans had their flaws, Ex had learnt long ago that showing and practicing these flaws, some of them at least, was the only way to survive in the human world. Blackmail, bribery and even straight up threats were the best ways to achieve what you wanted. Being lost in thought, Ex had missed the rest of their conversation and saw that the man was heading in the direction that Ex himself had been heading. He decided to follow the glass skinned man a little while. The man seemed to know where he was going and although Ex kept a keen eye on him, he did nothing else out of the ordinary. Ex watched as the glass skinned man entered a store that he, Ex knew very well,
"Mr. Velera's Workshop."
The only reason Ex knew of the place is because his favourite tavern was situated right beside it. He decided to let the glass skinned man get on with his day to day business without eyes following him everywhere and so, Ex entered the tavern.

~BZZTTT~ "owh...you bludy mixed...raced piece ahh... ~BZZZT~ the drunk fell down and felix shook his head cracking his knuckles in his gloves "please...if anyone else drunken has a problem with me being half human half elf...please. i beesech you come here, we'll have a wonderful discussion! now please let me have my peace." he removed the mask he wore as he glugged another pint of elvish mead, the stuff went through most humans, he however could tolerate the stuff, it also stopped the irritation in his throat for a while, or at least soothed it. he slipped his mask on after finishing it and was walking out the door when he accidentally ran into the man coming in. he looked back "sorry bout that."

Sir Alevandro

As the busy streets filled more and more with merchants as rush hour was starting, everyone made room for one man as he walked in the middle of the streets, his dark armor thicker then the metal war chariots and the clank of his footsteps sounded louder then that of galloping horses, not to mention he was 7.2 feet tall in the armor. "Such a beautiful day the Goddess has given us today!" He said to himself, his helmet underneath his arm as he took in the bright sun. "Not even Mare could ruin such a clear sky! Although Muortaire can ruin any day but no use on dwelling on it!" he said with a smile. Even though 7+ feet tall and having a claymore taller then the average man, he seemed like a nice dependable guy to have around.

((Assuming it was Ex that Felix bumbed into Der))

From the minor collision that had just occured, Ex's body didn't even move whereas Felix's shoulder was pushed aside a little as he passed. Ex heard the apology and turned to face the man...
Or elf..both? he thought. Ex had seen half-breeds during his travels but had never seen one with such an odd device attachted to them. He was or course referring to his mask. Ex nodded to the man in a polite way to say 'it's fine'.
"Were these men bothering you?" He asked, slightly monotonically.

Felix shook his head, "not anymore, they see someone a little bit different then them and they jump all over you and you know a drunk, they look for a fight they get beaten up, wake up a few hours later bloody wondering if they got mugged." he pointed at the drunk on the floor as the prime example, for all the difference proclaimed between men and elves, he still found it humorous they still fit the role of town drunk the same, "third one this week, getting kinda tired of them."

Ex nodded, he knew what it was like to be outcast. Nobody here knew of his demonic nature, and he would prefer to keep it that way, but in other places, his abilites had been discovered and he had been openly attacked by many religious fanatics.
"Have you ever thought of- hang on, would you care to join me for a drink?" He asked, half expecting Felix to refuse. He gestured to an empty table in the dark corner of the tavern, not even a candle stood on its surface.

Felix nodded "why not...another drink won't hurt...besides i actually may get a decent t conversation out of it without some racial slur being thrown out at me by some drunkard who decided to try a wee bit to much ale." he motioned to the table "After you."

Makoto

As he walks down the stone sidewalk taking quick glances at
contract boards that lie along some of the street corners. Ah...
"Lloyd's" shop. As he walks in he takes a few looks at the
interesting clockwork mechanisms and stops as he sees his
brother cleaning out a clockwork rifle.

"Oh, hey Makoto." "Hey, have you seen any people come in here with

"Okay I was just checkin' haven't gotten many contracts lately..."
"That's alright, I'm sure you can find work that isn't taken. Even if not, my
job still makes enough money."
"I guess you're right, but if you see anyone
let me know!"
"You'll be the first to know." "Thanks." he says as he walks out
of the building continuing down the street.

Mason walked through the market district towards the tavern. It had been a long, slow day at the shop. When making fireworks, one must move slow, And they had gotten an order of 500. "Time for some good heavy drinkin'," he said as he walked in. He sat down at the bar, ignoring everything else inside that wasn't required for purchasing fermented beverages.

Lily and Alevandro, Muortaire?

As Lily flew away from Czir in a small fit, she started to cool down when the wind breezed through her wings. "Maybe I shouldn't have said that to Czir, every race has there own way of living I guess..." She flew around a bit more, just taking in the scenery when she saw something a bit odd, it looked like another servant. Swooping down into the dark alley where it was, Lily was horrified when she got a better view of him. His wings were featherless, his eyes were corrupted black as black vines could be seen across his half naked body. He kept repeating the same thing over and over again. "Makethelaughingstopmakethelaughingstopmakethelaughingstopmakethelaughingstop." He kept saying, holding his hands to his ears.

Lily approached a bit but kept her distance. "By the goddess, are you alright?!" The corrupted servant quickly turned his head. "You hear the laughing too... no not yet but you soon will..." Those words suddenly haunted Lily. "No, Muortaire has no influence on this world. Come on, I'll bring you to the nearest chu-" The corrupted servant suddenly jumped. "NO INFLUENCE?! WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS!" He said while staring right into her eyes. Lily screamed as hard as she could. "LET ME GO! PLEASE LET ME GO!!!" The next thing she knew, this giant of a man was shaking her sensless. "Hey, snap out of it! " Lily opened her eyes to see the man. "I came to help when I heard a damsels scream but you were here alone screaming to yourself! Are you alright girl?" She quickly looked behind the man in armor to reveal the corrupted servant, laughing in a demonic tone as he seemed to fuse into a shadow covered wall. Lily's face went completely white as she sat down in complete shock. The man in armor turned around and saw nothing. "Come on girl! Snap out of it!" Grabbing Lily by the arm, the man in armor litteraly dragged her back into the mainstreet were the normal sounds of everyday life and the sun to her face seemed to make her snap out of her shocked state. She got up again as people began to stare, still in a bit of shock. "Th-thanks... c-can you please accompany me back to my friends, I dont want to be alone right now..." The man in armor laughed and made a small bow. "Anything for such a beautiful damsel such as you! I am sir Alevandro Vonbreck of the Leron's royal chevaliers, at your service."

It took quiet a while after the merchant entered the shop and called into the mess of gears, machine parts, toolsets and overloaded shelves behind the counter, but eventually the shop's owner, Marcus velera, still clad in the armored uniform assigned to him in the genie war, stepped into the chaotic mess from a backroom where the light of a smithy shines through. he waded through his home, carefully taking his steps in the little holes where Floor shines through. finaly reaching the counter he says: "sorry, I seriously need to tidy this up... anyway, hello, sir, what can I do for you?" Marcus doesn't seem to mind the merchants glass skin, he just nods with serious respect at the man and waits for an answer. so another war veteran. inside his head, however, a multitute of voices gave their two cents: 'respect! not many survive that kind of spell!' 'I believe it supposed to be fatal?' 'we've seen it hit our squad, turned to glass, all of them.' I' wonder how he survived.' '...befriend him marcus.' 'good idea!' 'I agree.' 'that cane of his is well made.' 'I see its uses for a hidden weapon.' 'almost unnoticable' 'but not for us' ... and they go on and on... a constant whispering in the back of his head, Marcus learned to both listen to them, and interact with other people. they keep politely quiet in that sort of situation, but when working they get louder...
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

Czir

Czir noticed right away he was a veteran, the uniform was a dead giveaway sense they use a different design this time around. Although why he's still wearing was beyond him though. He lifted his cane and put it on the table. Pressing hard on the side of it, the cane opened up a trigger as the bottom of the cane opened to reveal a barrel. "For some reason it wont accept standard military shot rounds and the alternative are pretty pricey compared to the surpluses from the Genies march. Would you mind thinkering it a bit?"

Aeon and Rosa's POV
A small rumbling noise and the sound of a gun was heard in the distance followed by some shouting and screaming.
Aeon and Rosa was on a bike, speeding down the road.
Aeon was yelling his head off at Rosa
"YES! TAKE A SHORT CUT YOU SAY! IT'S PERFECTLY FINE YOU SAY! IF IT WAS SO SAFE WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS?!"
Aeon was sitting behind Rosa on the bike and directly behind them was a golem.
"Hey, it was safe last time I checked!"
Rosa yelled back at Aeon.
"WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CHECKED!?"
"uhhhh 12 years ago?"
Rosa muttered under her breath.
"GEE THAT IS REAL ASSURING ROSA."
Aeon fired off 2 rounds into the golem, only for the bullets to chip it.
"Hey Rosa, Small problem.Yeah? Remember those explosive bullets you bought at an extremely inflated price?Yeah? WELL THEY DON'T WORK!"
Rosa was about to retort back at Aeon when she saw a ramp formed out of a destroyed house directly in front of them.
Aeon saw it too.
"NO. DO NOT DO WHAT I THINK YOUR PLANNING TO DO."
Rosa ignored him and hit the ramp anyways sending the bike over the ramp and past the walls.
"WEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! Good lord."
The bike landed on the ground with a loud THUMP, and Aeon jumped off, muttered something about Machine God and went off into the nearest bar to get a drink.
Rosa checked the bike for damage and, upon finding none, she just parked it in front of a hotel, and took out spark plugs and locked it up.
She then went into the lobby and got a suite for two people before she headed back out and sat on the sidewalk, waiting for her brother. She observed as a girl with birds wings got attacked and watched it unfold. She looked around and decided to go find a book store or something. She put the bike in a hidden alleyway somewhere and went up to the man that had rescued the girl.
"ummmm excuse me, Do you know where i can find someone who sells books?"

Aeon's POV
Aeon stumbled around before finding a bar. He sat down next to some dude(Mason) and called the barkeep.
"Whatever is the strongest drink you have please. In the largest beer stein you have too."
As soon as he got his drink he started to chug it down.
"Ok, now that i managed to recollect my nerves......"
He gave the barkeep some money, stood up, and passed out promptly from shock of his ordeal.

((I may have misunderstood the opening post, but I think we're in the Merchant City (its name escapes me at the moment) but the description of the iced waterfall makes me think you've just landed in the capital D: ))

Ex promptly made his way to the darkened table and sat down, still keeping his thick cloak around him and keeping the hood covering his head and casting his face in darkness. Felix followed and also sat at the table. From this table, the two had a clear view of the entire bar and they watched as Mason walked towards the bar and sat down. Ex then turned to Felix and asked,
"So, whats your name?"
