tony1695 wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 3:08 amSomeone posted the... 'static' (what is the right word) version over on e621 (not gonna provide a link, not sure if allowed) and it's really interesting how it looks.
Is that really the raw image or did someone render the panorama back into a flat image? The panorama version does not seem to have any indication of curvature in the floor near the door, but they are obviously very curved in the flat picture on e621. The way some of the characters kind of pop like they are flat images in a 3D space suggests TechnicBot is onto something with multiple images making up the panorama.
Tom's art in e621/e926 is actually in a conditional DNP mode, so that's definitely Tom's art when he made it. It's the raw thing unless the "Tom" that posts in e621 is not our Tom, then we go and tell Tom.

EDIT: In that case then, it really is well-made for a panorama picture.
EDIT 2: I ran the picture in another panorama viewer, and it's an almost-perfect match (almost since the viewer blurred some parts of the area and the curving is more visible with it).

Up-down works fine but how can I pan left-right without Firefox or Chrome grabbing those keys for back-forward navigation buttons?

"Why are you trying to read this?" because it's there.

I believe you just click and drag with the mouse. At least that’s how it works for me.

This was a nice and wholesome surprise. All the ships are together and I enjoy that. Except the most recent one of course.

Happy TwoKinds Anniversary everybody!

In case anyone was wondering how Tom initially painted this for the perspective, here's the grand secret!

Image

Then he sketched a bit over top of that, and when he was satisfied with his sketch he simply painted most all of it in 2D.

The more you know!

I did thought the scene had a hint of Minecraft in it. But I couldn't figure out why. I assumed it was my imagination but seems I was not wrong at the end.

Huh. That's pretty clever.
Saw several people speculating about how he could have done it but that never came to mind.

I am also impressed as Tom had to draw along the equirrectangular projection. That is not trivial nor intuitive, quite impressive really.

By the way for those wanting to see the raw image:
The link is safe. I simply found the url of the raw image from the viewer

Not entirely sure why it does not show thought.
and for anyone curious. The viewer is implemented using this:
Panellum

Is that Laura on the shelf between Keith and Maeve?
