So... an attempt to preserve his own mind? Makes some sense, as Grand Templar he would have a lot of enemies and "allies" that would be happy to use him.

We knew this chapter was going to have Trace face his dark side, but I didn’t expect it to be so literal.

This is not Dark Trace. This is a separate thing, some kind of clone by the sound of it. He knows because Rose likely told him. What I find interesting is that Dark Trace didn't wanted Rose to be free, and this awakening Detritus.

Apparently, the last time we saw Trace and Flora (HERE: http://twokinds.keenspot.com/comic/1114/) Trace was talking with Rose (such as she is). Her speech was done with green lettering. And when she said, "Trace... Detritus", it was because she was noting that those two were there with her. It's also obvious that Trace knows that he's no longer hearing Rose. And we see the diference with the red lettering.

The other developement is that all the trouble with the stone guardians has nothing to do with Clovis. The battle in the Oasis Room and Clovis and friends breaking in look to have nothing to do with each other. This could be a nasty surprise for Romulus and Remus if they happen to make a wrong turn and run into one of them. I assume Clovis could defend himself, but he just might abandon the others, maybe even Brutus, to save himself.

So, three simultaneous battles going on, The Oasis Room group vs. the stone guardians; Clovis and friends vs. Zen, Kat, and Sythe; and Trace, Flora and Stoney (and Rose?) vs. Detritus. This could get complicated.

This is not Dark Trace. This is a separate thing, some kind of clone by the sound of it. He knows because Rose likely told him. What I find interesting is that Dark Trace didn't wanted Rose to be free, and this awakening Detritus.

We know it's not Dark Trace, by what it said, and that it's a separate entity. But I doubt Dark Trace would have kept it if he couldn't control it. My question is, does Trace have the same authority as Dark Trace did over Shadow Trace?

This could get complicated.

Well that's one mystery solved. But man, with every page this chapter just gets uglier and uglier for Trace and friends. Darkest and most intense chapter yet by far.

I doubt he won't listen to Trace but he may not recognize current Trace as his creator and try to fix him. Or as he mentions himself, he is not quite as successful as whatever Trace Did to Rose hence he may have some bugs and glitches that allow him to disobey Trace If he sees it fit

However I think the greates threat shadow traces poses is not directly himself not in disobeying Truce directly. He may stir old memories and emotions in him making him regress into full on Dark Trace.

This could get complicated.

Well Bran forces may decide to attack now, the wolf pen got breached like to chapters ago and they might attack the manor too, moreover we do not know we're our favorite fake guard an templar are. Oh and then there is Adira/Maeve we do not know how tangled into this they are.

Ah, I guess that is true. Trace still has a lot of horcruxes at the moment.... this one gonna be the red haired one on the cover for this chapter? It does have that missing chunks aesthetic going on for it, but it doesn't seem that solid at the moment.
