Is that some foreshadowing I see off in the distance? Eh, it's probably nothing.
I brought it up on the stream, but I'll repeat it here. Zen gets pretty affectionate when he's inebriated, doesn't he?

Further confirmation that Missus Nibbly is more than she seems.

The gatekey can't go through itself? Then why bother having one in a portable form? Seems fishy. (Then again, what's portable for a dragon, even a juvenile, differs from what's portable for a human)
And why is Nibs freaking out like that? Could just be Reni triggering an "eek giant predator" instinct reaction, but why did Sythe not? And it's likely not magic, she had no problem with the magic-charged hotsprings.

Tom's playing them mindgames!
Nibbly's true self is becoming something like Red's name, we'll never know! Noooo!
But with that out of my system, Zen seems to still have that "cute" thing on his mind. Even though he's... y'know... unconscious and stuff, but that's besides the point! Ship material is good material!

Assuming the gate stays open until you move the key, it means you can go back home and get something, eat dinner, or maybe even sleep, then return to wherever you left the key and continue on your journey. How would that NOT be nice to have?tony1695 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 10:12 am The gatekey can't go through itself? Then why bother having one in a portable form? Seems fishy. Mrs. Nibbly looks really afraid - a) from what Rose is b) or from the aura of the estate itself
Maybe the secret of this little rascal is revealed here in the estate.

Or, on a benevolent note, if someone or something important needed to be transported from Point A to Point B, and Point A had someone who was tuned to A and B did as well, then all that would need to occur is for Person A to meet Person B somewhere safe and secure and perform a hand off.sotanaht wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 10:41 amAssuming the gate stays open until you move the key, it means you can go back home and get something, eat dinner, or maybe even sleep, then return to wherever you left the key and continue on your journey. On a more Diabolic note, an attuned spy sent behind enemy lines is sent with a key to find a place where an army can gather near a strategic point of contention, open up gate, and funnel well fed, fresh and undamaged troops into the kingdom, if someone from the first group pulled had a connected pull to a different location, well... Lather, Rinse, Repeat and you could invade with the full might of your army against an unsuspecting kingdom. But then again, that's probably why Trace's Estate has the defenses it does.
Oh, and my newest thought on who's that squirrel is that she had tried to enter Trace's estate unbidden before and got turned into a squirrel, escaped, and now is afraid of what else might happen to her.

And then your invading army gets caught out and is slaughtered Spartan-style. Or not.Dianae wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 4:49 pmOr, on a benevolent note, if someone or something important needed to be transported from Point A to Point B, and Point A had someone who was tuned to A and B did as well, then all that would need to occur is for Person A to meet Person B somewhere safe and secure and perform a hand off.sotanaht wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 10:41 amAssuming the gate stays open until you move the key, it means you can go back home and get something, eat dinner, or maybe even sleep, then return to wherever you left the key and continue on your journey. About Nibbly, you're totally right holy crap. She could have been a trespasser and got turned into a squirrel.

Weird theory time again. Mrs. Nibbly could be scared because...
a. She senses something about Rose that isn't obvious to us yet.
b. She senses some kind of magic conflict/danger involved in either her or one of the others being transported though the portal.
b. She's met Rose before and recognizes the Estate because she's been there before, aaand... she wasn't always a squirrel. She was one of the many uhm... unwelcome guests. [EDIT - ninja'd by Candycat]

I think they're less likely than the above, but some other possibilities:Rafe wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 7:52 pmWeird theory time again. Mrs. Nibbly could be scared because...

d. She is a transformed dragon hiding from the others (for currently unknown reasons)
e. She was transformed BY a dragon and Reni terrifies her
f. She was transformed by Nora/Trace pre-amnesia and Trace terrifies her (fear of either the transformation or Captain Genocide going all Captain Genocide again)
g. Some combination of the above

If she is being spooked by Rose. My theory about Rose being a ghost of some kind could hold some truth.

... this is an awful lot of "what's nibbly spooked by" comments, for a strip that said "She seems to be spooked by the dragon."

Oh Zen, are these your true feeling shine through in your half conscious state? I have to wonder xD
Nibbly totally a dragon btw. She was scared Reni was gonna recognize her
