Oh no! Nibs! YOU MONSTER!!! YOU KILLED NIBS!!!!! :squirrel: Hopefully, she survives, but that crack did not sound good. Maybe she's more than a squirrel and transforms at this point. Either way, it looks like Raine is about to open up a big ol' can of whoopass on fox boy!

She's broken through her transformation block and is going (at least half) human to use her own mana reserves. 3. She's breaking through the keidran magic limitation (temporarily) to use her own mana reserves as if in human form.
I present a 4th idea similar to your first: She's subconsciously tapped into the literal mana pool just a few feet away.

I suppose that would be about the same as drawing on the general ambient mana of the land (like Trace did before drawing on the black mana), just pooling/concentrated in one spot so there's more of it available.

Well it seems someone did died at the end. ...Nice. But sad. But nice. But...

Also that's exactly how such situation would end in any logic setting. Every time I see a cute little creater gnawing at someone in any media I think "It would be so easy to just crush that little pest." And here Squirrel goes splat. Ouch.

Anyway that makes the upcoming fight even more delightful.

I think everyone saw this coming.

Now the question is, what magic is Raine about to release?

Option 1: Carver death.

Option 2: Nibs insta-heal

Or more karmic options:

Nibs healed and made giant-sized to attack Carver

Carver lives out the rest of his days as a squirrel

Gonna need one of those little paper lunch bags for Carver's funeral, if Raine doesn't do him, Sythe will.

Also Raine is totally going into the avatar state.

Next page Raine better be like:

I wouldn't question it if #3 was true, given her… interesting lineage.

That reminds me of something I heard in an old flash game I played way back in the day. Pimp's Quest, I think it was called.

“Man, you done [censored] up! You know who that mother [censored] you just smoked back there was? That was Rudy Youngblood! You know who his [censored] brother is, man?! His [censored] brother owns this town! Get out of town now, mother [censored]! …Excuse me while I hit this up.”

And I will be amazed if I remember that correctly after years (possibly over a decade) of having not played it.

Anyway, a little bit of wishful thinking here, but maybe the ‘crack’ was the sound of the barrier breaking.

Also, I have a moronic little I wanted to post in the stream.

Sythe: NIBS!
Nibbly: Don't worry, I'm fine. It'll take more than that to kill me.
All: You can talk?!
Nibbly: Oh yes, allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Elizabeth Silverlock; former Grand Templar.
Raine: Silverlock? As in Mary Silverlock?!
Nibbly: Yes… and I hope my dear sister is enjoying her new position!
[Database error]: Wait, she didn't turn you into a Squirrel to take your position, did she?
Nibbly: No. She just made everyone believe that you can't be a Templar and an Adragkist at the same time. But, I guess I should be thanking her for getting me kicked out. I never liked their rules and regulations anyway.
Sythe: So, why are you a Squirrel?
Nibbly: When you get to be as powerful as I am, you start to appreciate simple lifestyles. As a Squirrel, all I do is eat, sleep, and runaround. …Also, I think the Fox just buggered off.

I'm gonna leave this here.

Just let it go, Raine.

Nibbly's spine better not be broken, otherwise, I think he'll end up with the same treatment.

And to think, this isn't even Raine's final form.
