Spoiler!
Re: Twokinds research paper
For animals with the same litter size - and it appears that litter size 1 is the norm for humans, keidran, and basitin - the typical gestation period is pretty strongly a function of the mother's non-fat body size. Keidran, basitin, and humans are all approximately the same size. So all three species would have similar gestation periods. (There's also some variation likely related to typical size of a newborn as compared to the mother.)

Now if you want to get into the genetics of cross-species mating, I have to direct you toward a story in a different universe. http://archiveofourown.org/works/7939489/navigate

that study shows a relation between weight and gestation for primates, a category I am unsure i would categorize keidran as. other species types do not conform to that logarithmic scale, for example the common tiger weighs 230kg, but has a gestation period of 93-112 days.Warrl wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2017 3:05 am For animals with the same litter size - and it appears that litter size 1 is the norm for humans, keidran, and basitin - the typical gestation period is pretty strongly a function of the mother's non-fat body size. overall, I was not aiming to be the absolute most realistic I could be with my theories and estimations, since I wanted them to be easily understood my even those who haven't read the entire comic.
