Maybe not as much drama, as Raine might not notice the difference as much since had been wearing it for a long time, perhaps they all thought it was Zen adjusting to the sudden lack of magic that was causing him to space out, who knows.


like being deafened by a silence... blinded by a light too bright/sudden darkness, as the eyes adjust, sensations return, even if the actual light level remains constant. That kind of thing....

Agreed, missing a few miscellaneous bits and pieces here and there is fine, and thusly, this particular moment definitely should not have been glossed over so easily.

I don't think I can call it at this point. It's really hard to guess at how a story should be told, when one doesn't know what exactly the story is. Maybe when we get to chapter 20.

If nothing else, there's a certain symmetry in not showing the aftermath on either side of the link. The true power of the shackle is to pass a week or so of time
