In the past years, several attempts on translating Twokinds have been made, most of them not very successful as the translator usually found the work too hard. But then one day in the #twokinds chat we got news:
There are now full Twokinds translations in these languages:Tom in the IRC chat wrote:Jan 30 05:52:11 <Tom> Someone did a complete Russian translation of Twokinds.
- Russian, by Siber, first one to catch up with Tom (in January 2011), active and updates when a new comic is published.
Spanish, by johnny_jones, caught up with Tom on June 20th 2011, also active.
German, by Cornelius, caught up with Tom on October 14th 2011, but is it active? I can't decide for myself as my German is not good enough but it seems like it's on hold.
Portuguese, by xamali, caught up with Tom on May 9th 2012, active.
Polish, by Szmeszek, caught up with Tom on June 10th 2014, active.
Polish, alternative translation by Bartenn and Wojszach, caught up with Tom some time during 2015.
Czech, by Severka (HatGirl), caught up with Tom on June 17th 2016.
Italian, by Valerio, caught up with Tom on January 12th 2018.
French by Ja'shurheso'do, Darkgeem, Mathius, and Manax166, caught up with Tom on June 6th 2018.
NEW! Chinese by Boltmu, caught up with Tom on March 6th 2019.
- Korean, by ShineVlue. Sadly enough, the translation is gone (I forgot how many pages but I think it was at least 300). It used to be avaiable at twokinds.kr but the domain expired and was taken over by someone else.
Thai, by pcenterplayer, chapters 0-3 done.
Italian, by GeekItalianGuy, chapters 0-2 done. Currently on hold because of lack of time.
Italian, by Kopaka1996, starts off where the other Italian translation stopped but unfortunately this too is discontinued.
Russian, alternative version by surf93, in progress.
Norwegian (nynorsk) by Sigvart Brendberg, in progress, at least 110 pages done in April 2016. Will later move to http://2kinds.tk
Swedish, my own, caught up with Tom on June 1st 2012 but is currently on hold because of lack of time.
Some hints for potential translators. Basically, you need to do these steps:
- a) remove the original text
b) translate the text
c) put your text on the page using some kind of image editor (Photoshop, Gimp or anything that works. But don't even think of using Paint!!!)
d) (optionally) redo onomatopoeia and other things where just a font is not enough (like in page 20)
e) find somewhere to upload the pages
f) (optionally) make a web page that shows the pages, one at a time
Depending on your ambitions you might also be interested in knowing what fonts have been used for the various pages, and I can help you with that too (some of the information I got directly from Tom, so I know it's accurate).
There's at least one older translation thread around, I started this new one as the previous one contains a lot of outdated stuff... if you want to check it out, the main content of it starts around http://twokinds.net/forum/viewtopic.php ... 6&start=21.
