So the two groups are finally about to meet again. I think it's been over a decade in RL since Red and the others saw Trace the last time. I think Raine has never met Trace and Flora, right?

I predict their encounter will be something like this:

Red and his gang: Trace!
Sythe: Flora!
Flora: Sythe?
Trace: Hey, it's you guys! What are your names again?
Raine: I guess you guys know each other...
Natani: Zen!

Raine has met Trace and Flora, both during the events of Chapter 6, and earlier on. It's an open question how much they've interacted, though.

Natani, meanwhile, has never met any of Group B in the flesh (well, that we know :P). He's only familiar with them through Zen.

I love that Natani's reaction was to pull Keith in protectively like that, though.

Note that in relation to everyone else, Natani is over-reacting to the impact. Keith's own expression is one of, "Thanks, but you didn't have to go that far."

The over the top reaction was part of what made it all the more charming. ;)

I agree wholeheartedly and add that it's also quite amusing.

Reni, in the future I suggest you arrange to stall at either a significantly higher altitude (recovering from a stall isn't really difficult - if you have enough air below you) or a significantly lower altitude (so you land on your legs rather than your nose).

Reni's problem was reaching zero altitude before reaching zero forward speed (stall condition). Feet contacted first and leverage slammed the head down to use as a brake.

Lithobraking is noted as "not recommended" in the draconic flight manual. Maybe she should have hit the ground running faster.

But what an entrance! It's a (not so) good way to make sure they won't ever forget the first time they met her...

Or she could use the typical feline response after what appears to be a rough landing...

"I meant to do that!"

Either that or what I said once when I fell off while pony trekking; "hands up anyone who spotted my deliberate mistake".

(Yes, it's the punchline from an old Thelwell pony cartoon, I'm old-fashioned.)
