Re: November Writing Competition 2011
Also, I'm getting closer to finishing my peice for this contest. With luck I'll have it finished by the deadline. Same here. And it's not going to be a chunk of my Marian story, either. It's a surprise. And won't be posted until right before the deadline. I might not be able to post a second chapte...

Re: My little Pony: friendship is magic
It's rediculously long, about 30 word document pages. My sole nit to pick. 30 pages isn't long. Granted, it's well above "magazine short" length, but it's right about "anthology short". Ridiculously long is anything above 1 million words. 30 pages should be... around 20,000 word...

Re: Oh, the fallout from this should be fun.
I'm not sure how there being a murder in a park justifies ten cops violently beating and dragging people around before actually cuffing and arresting them. Edit: Florida, lol. http://www.thedaily.com/page/2011/11/19/111911-news-tampa-tank/ - A tool of absolute necessity against the terrible protest...

Manipulation of perception is the stock in trade of every journalist I'm sure you meant to say "biased journalist" or "corrupt journalist." An idealistic journalist, or at the very least a journalist who takes his/her job seriously, would endeavor to present the facts in as plai...

Re: Oh, the fallout from this should be fun.
At this point, the actual, literal truth of the situation, any situation, is purely academic. It doesn't matter a whit as to whether things will swing one way or the other. As an example, Kinuki and Momma, both intelligent, thoughtful people are clearly not seeing eye to eye on this, and I can tell ...

Re: Rainbow 6 : Patriots
As I avoid any sort of online multiplayer, most of this does not concern me. The few times I've tried multiplayer (COD 4 and DNF) it has been made clear to me that it is a lake full of angry, hateful sharks with hax. I do not want to go swimming in there a third time. I'm much more interested in the...

just theoretical Um... all science is just theoretical. Nothing is ever 100% proven. Different degrees of theoretical, sure. There's the Theory of Gravity, which we're all familiar with and which rarely sees any contention. And the Theory of Evolution, which gets edited almost as often as a wiki pa...

Wow. That's just... yep, it's like the government is pouring the powder into the keg, and just waiting for some damn fool with a match.Luca Fox wrote:Cop pushes Supreme Court Judge at Occupy protest.

Rainbow 6 : Patriots
Well, this is new. A Rainbow 6 game with a story? And a notable lack of funny-accented villains? Game Informer this month ran a cover story on an early demo of this game. From both the screenshots (damn good looking) and their description of the fragment of the story they were allowed to watch, I ma...

Re: Speed of light broken again
SF authors now rejoice. "SEE! Our FTL drives are plausible! Because if neutrinos can do it, so can we!" Insert hand-waving here. Seriously though, this is pretty cool stuff. I don't understand it all, and I really don't see a practical way to apply this any time in the next century or so, ...

And I'm done with NaNo. I'm not having fun forcing the writing, and it's starting to detract from the quality of my story telling. I know NaNo isn't about quality, but quantity. I can't work that way. I don't go back and edit, usually. What I write, if I don't re-write it within an hour, is pretty m...

Re: Oh, the fallout from this should be fun.
The problem IS, the way many of the media are treating it. I'm very much afraid it is going the way of the Inquisition: start out as one thing meant to make everyone's life safer and better, but ending up torturing everybody. Highly likely. We're at the point where there's so much reform needed tha...

Meanwhile in Denver... http://wp.koaa.com/elaine/?p=2959 *headdesk* Way #243 not to be taken seriously. Occupy has way too many idiots and goofballs to get anything useful done. The Occupy group in Billings was a half dozen people. Then they swelled to over a hundred. Yay! And then they realized th...

Re: November Writing Competition 2011
I may not be entering this, after all. As aj, Insomniac and I were discussing last night, my story is very niche audience, and also extremely NSFW. And very, very long. And a little complicated. And if I want to "Win" Nano, I don't have time to do an unrelated story on the side, as well. W...
