I also think insanity is the most likely option. Before the tower, he was simply manipulative. The magic corroded what was left of his sanity to a fine powder, which got scattered in the winds of paranoia.

I've tried multiple times but it all gets me nowhere.
Why can't they see I'll do what I want with life, how I want to, IF I want to?

My parents have this incredible way of making my life feel worthless.
