Re: Do Shields Exist in Twokinds?

There is also the issue that standard-issue shields tend to cover the people using them so the people look standard-issue as well. Not everyone has a personal blazon to put on their shield (and the audience - heck, the comic artist - typically has little to no training in heraldry, to recognize and ...

Re: Comic for Wednesday, July 2nd 2014

The shackle probably was used for its durability. Granted, we've actually seen it break, but Mary might have thought it wouldn't break so easily. The reason Raine even learned of what she was was due to a 'more stable object'. The original item used was a locket , but such things break rather easil...

Re: Comic for Wednesday, July 2nd 2014

Raine is hoping to find a way that executing Zen won't be necessary - but she recognizes the apparent necessity. She won't intentionally free him without some reasonable assurance of his future good (from the group's perspective) behavior. The notion that the two girls will remain unconscious *indef...

Re: What IS Mana?

True. Let's discuss. I don't think mana is gas or sound, because that's not cool enough. It's probably sort of mysterious 'energy'. But what kind of energy can crystallize into matter? ANY energy, if you have enough of it and the right special conditions. It takes something on the order of kilotons...

Re: Comic for Wednesday, June 25th 2014

You guys are all missing the most important part of this strip. Check panels 3 and 6; we actually got to see Mrs. Nibbly nibbling Sythe! Panel 3: all we see of Mrs. Nibbly is her tail. There's no evidence to date of a mouth there. Panel 6: we don't see Mrs. Nibbly at all (that's Sythe's ponytail wi...

Re: Comic for Wednesday, June 25th 2014

Still, I don't see Nibs being either Nora nor the Seer. Nora is always white with yellow eyes, the Seer (or what he's controlling) has always been black with yellow eyes. I agree. However, Nora doesn't seem to be the only dragon in the world, and the fact that they refer to Master Seer implies the ...

Re: Comic for Wednesday, June 25th 2014

Is anyone else creeped out by Raine's facial expression in panel #5? Red's right, there's definitely something off about that squirrel. Demonic possession theories aside, I wonder what the possibilities are that it's a dragon in disguise? I also seem to recall a seer possessing a horse (or maybe sh...

Re: Comic Page for Wednesday, June 11th 2014

If Mrs Nibbly is indeed someone else spying on them, it doesn't make sense to me for her to approach the group and act so conspicuously. Oh? She can: a) try to keep up with creatures whose FEET are each about the size of her entire body b) while finding food for herself (optional depending on just ...

Re: Comic Page for Wednesday, June 11th 2014

I don't recall if this has been mentioned, but it is seriously odd for an adult squirrel to be that friendly with a canine. (A feline would be no better.) I wonder what Mrs. Nibbly's backstory really is. If she was previously a pet (and has learned from a very young age that keidran, at least the ca...

Re: Comic Page for Wednesday, June 11th 2014

Anyway, if you really feel bad about not being able to create and upload a comic on time, there is always that ‘Lore Filler’ idea I pitched a while ago. Just simply sketch something like a weapon, a set of armor, an aerial view of a town, a random person, an animal, foliage, whatever, and just make...

Re: The languages of place names on the map

Names of things/people in fictional worlds can be interesting. There is a lot of discussion of naming languages (a naming language is a subset of a language, just enough to name things plausibly and have names that *should* feel like they come from the same culture actually feel that way). One of th...

Population explosion

Consider Lyn'knoll. An isolated village of human and keidran living more-or-less in harmony for long enough to become myth. Which means there have been a lot of horny teenagers living there over the years. Of both species. Surely they figured out very early on that cross-species sex doesn't produce ...

Re: How will Trace react to Flora when she dies?

I'm going to disagree. Trace lost Saria prematurely and unexpectedly. Keith lost his parents prematurely and unexpectedly, then he lost Laura prematurely and unexpectedly *twice*. Making certain assumptions (they don't get involved in combat, Natani retires from being an assassin, the couples stay t...
