I don't think Clovis expected things to just go so awry, and less alone to have a slaver around to disable the cuff. Funnily so, if Rem had not gone after Sythe and gotten himself killed by a squirrel, the brothers could have easily dealt with Kat and Zen together.

Judging by Rom's eyes on that second to last panel, I assume Zen already hit a vital spot. Now it it all depends on him grabbing Kat before she reaches the outside and by the sound of it is teleported out.

Rose is powerless as long as Detritus is around, and Raine is likely heading to where the main fight is taking place. Nobody knows Romulus is there other than Sythe, and he is heading torwards the secret corridor too. So things seem pretty dire for Kat.

A timeskip wouldn't be mutually exclusive with their character development, and could potentially enhance what might happen with their characters. Either that, or the current part of their arcs would conclude before the timeskip and that would start entirely new arcs in their character development....

Doing a such a thing would not only make all Keidran characters age substantially, but would completely sacrifice many potential storylines.
