Re: Last Man Posting

Yeah. By experience they are much more common and much more annoying.

It is more difficult to deal with a 50 year old who acts like someone straight out of college. Than with a 20 something who acts like a grandpa.

Re: Technic[bot]'s literary corner

Well I had this idea the other day and after a while decided to give it a go. It is a short detective story but also Twokinds fan-fiction. Per forum policy when in doubt tag as NSFW. It is no more graphic than your run of the mill law an order episode. But if you are queasy about blood i would sugge...

Re: TwoKinds [of] data

Thanks a lot! These are very clear. But are the x-axes of the first three graphs in your latest post labeled right? They seem to have data from the year 2021. You know what? You are right the way I grouped days for the counting was at the end of the year, hence i get the last data point on December...

Re: Last Man Posting

One of my professor said once:

"There are sometimes, simply old souls"

What she meant is that there are some people who and, and maybe feel, significantly older than their chronological age.

Mea culpa

Re: Last Man Posting

I had minor surgery on one of my knees. It hurts from time to time.

But occasionally my wrist and shoulder hurt too. I think it is the climate and a sign we are getting old.

Re: TwoKinds [of] data

The thing is, you couldn't actually see the individual intervals in the first graph. It was way too cluttered. Now it is possible to make observations about how update frequency has changed over time. For example, it seems that the rate is in slow decline, though it fluctuates a lot. You are kinda ...

Re: Last Man Posting

At first glance I thought it was some of idiomatic expression or something.

I suppose he was not very popular here. I remember hearing his name once or twice before. On the other hand I have never been a big music fan in general so maybe that is why I did not know much about him.

I will try to break the current bleak mood of the thread by asking:

Re: Comic for August 1,2020: Saved by the Spy

-snip- Most certainly. Don't know if that's what's happening here, but it would make a LOT of sense. Mana crystals are likely fairly expensive, and having them woven into fabric would be quite the expression of "I have money to burn". Could also be that Rose just felt like making something for the ...

I see you went... Places

Just as a note I think those kind of wounds are a bit more severe than what you make it look. The area is heavily vascularized so it is actually hard not cut some important vein and had the guy bleed out...

Re: Comic for August 1,2020:Saved by the Spy

I agree that I don't think the water would have enough drag to do it. (And yeah the buoyancy would also screw things up.) I did some very ballpark back of the envelope calculations and was coming up with drag forces much too low to do anything with reasonable speeds and forces, especially given tha...

Re: Last Man Posting

I had a teacher like that in high school. Managed to kill all my joy in chemistry. On hindsight I think for the best.

He also managed to make me pay for a bunch of test tubes I broke twice. Because he forgot the first time I gave him new ones

Re: Last Man Posting

In my experiences the first half of a journey is figuring out where you actually want to go. The third quarter is trying to get there by going in a different direction and the final quarter is actually getting to your destionation.

Re: Comic for August 1,2020:Saved by the Spy

-Physics snip- First i want to start saying that indeed. Biomechanics problems are really complicated as humans, and animals for that matter have too many moving parts and the relationship between forces and linkages is non-linear and does not have, most of the time. A closed form solution. That be...
