Re: Comic for April 25, 2021: Clovis vs. Reni

You know, I do wonder if there’s more to this mind reading that what we’re realizing. Like limitations of some sort. Requiring a level of concentration that would leave the dragon vulnerable (ie, all the dragon can “see” is what they’re getting out of the mind), or if someone can actively resist/sh...

Re: Comic for April 25, 2021: Clovis vs. Reni

Alternative idea, the amulet just projected a shield around Brutus as well as one around Clovis. Counterpoint: Clovis didn't get the amulet until after the attack on the town, so whatever was protecting them during that time was in place before the amulet even came into play. Yyp, that's why I call...

Re: Comic for April 25, 2021: Clovis vs. Reni

I think there's a slightly simpler possible explanation that's being overlooked here. When Reni was attacking Clovis and his crew on the wall, Clovis makes a point of saying that their magic would protect them from a dragon's fire. However, none of them seems to feel the need to immediately cast a s...

Re: Comic for March 24, 2021: Seeing Things

Counterpoint. Seraphina, the dragon fangirl , didn't know she was there, but knew she was missing from where she was supposed to be. Also note Keiren, "Get our ace ready." Seems to me that Reni was more of a secret weapon, than a known member of the guard, which makes more tactical sense ...

Re: Comic for March 24, 2021: Seeing Things

Regarding whether Nibs is a baby dragon or not, there's another tidbit here I just noticed. The chapter 18 cover has the suspicious figure on the roof and the missing poster on the board. But if you go and look at when the board appears in the actual chapter in comic 857 , there's something differen...

Re: Keidran aging vs human/basitin

Keidran age much, much faster than either humans or basitin. There is no *exact* conversion, though, nor is it a constant factor. A 3 year difference is indeed a much much greater difference for a keidran than for a human or basitin, but how much so would vary depending on the stage of life - e.g. t...

Re: Comic for February 7, 2021: Poisonous Friendship

Yep. Not every villain should be redeemed. Not every villain needs to be sympathetic. Just like in life, some people are horrible, greedy, selfish monsters. Clovis has never been a good person. He's never cared for ANYONE but himself. The non-canon patreon comics aside. He isn't a templar, or a dra...

Re: Comic for February 7, 2021: Poisonous Friendship

TK has a lot of fighting/violence, but I feel for the last number of years that it's been almost entirely "A-Team" violence, (lots of shooting, but nobody ever dies) so it's felt very, very low-stakes ... it feels like it's help reset some of those expectations of safety. Of course, if Br...

Re: Comic for February 7, 2021: Poisonous Friendship

I'm not gonna say 'I told you so' (partly because I didn't actually express it in a post ), but yup, this is pretty much what I was expecting. Clovis is evil, simple as that. He's not sympathetic, he's not misunderstood, he doesn't have a tragic backstory or a perhaps-understandable cause he's...

Re: Comic for January 2, 2021: Cow and Roast Chicken

So I read TDM, and I really don't see the same sense of brutality there either. He subtly threatened Zen and Natani if they didn't go through with the mission, but we never saw anything that explicitly demonstrated any form of cruelty until this page. Explicitly, no. But I'd also say that it's not ...

Re: Comic for January 2, 2021: Cow and Roast Chicken

Honestly, I've never quite understood a lot of the more sympathetic takes Clovis gets. I can't say I anticipated this exact action of his, but I definitely didn't expect him to let Roan's words go unpunished, and this is exactly the sort of thing I would have expected of him all along. He's a villai...

Re: Comic for November 30, 2020: Simulation Ended

How did Karen know they were illusions? Wait, you are right... She knows because she almost got killed by one earlier (and she calls it an illusion a couple pages later, so she definitely realized what had happened). She didn't necessarily know that the guardians *specifically* were illusions, but ...

Comic for November 14, 2020: Shoot for the Moon

https://i.imgur.com/FwSgv4F.png So yup, Reni cannonballs out of the roof next, not hard to see coming. So now there's just the question of what happens with everyone else. Though the roof getting smashed seems to have done something to the room's magic, so I suppose that's another monkey wrench - d...

Re: Comic for November 11th, 2020: A Way Out

Oh that makes sense, Reni punches a hole in the Roof and Raine teleports everyone to safety. And it is quite a simple and effective plan to be honest Except Raine has literally no magical training whatsoever . There's a chance Reni could do it from up there, given that she's a dragon, but I doubt i...

Re: Comic for November 11th, 2020: A Way Out

Hmmmm... this could get tricky. That's a possible way out, but how are they supposed to get to it? The manor is blocking Natani from teleporting and I don't think we've seen a fly or hover type spell, and absent that sort of thing Reni is the only one who can get up there. So even if the first panel...
