You really shouldn't do that until it is confirmed, I would suggest a "presumed deceased" until it's confirmed.

Why must characters always push other characters out of the way of an incoming danger, then stop and stare at it as it comes in and hits them square in the face? Why do they never think to take a running tackle? Aargh! I hate these kinds of scenes! Or, considering the relative sizes, a running grab...
