I'd imagine that Trace is undergoing metamorphosis of sorts, although I can't understand why his hand would be numb.
Perhaps it's possible that his transformed hand is just normally numb to the creature he is transforming to.

Why thank you! Though yes, "moved on" was a lazy choice of words. More like Nora can never have Trace's heart to herself. Likewise, Keith might not have moved on completely, but he is on his way there. Derailing Keith/Natani would likely be VERY unpopular, making Laura far less likeable. ...
