Re: Windows 7

I am so happy to be with my university, as I obtained Windows 7 Pro free as a Computer Science Major being part of the MSDNAA. Though I must say, it really is just a Vista that works. With a old box I had laying around with 1GB of RAM and some 2.66GHz from a while back, 32bit Windows 7 idles at arou...

Re: March 23, 2008

I'm one of those crazies who thinks a writer has accomplished much more if they can explain why things like "magic" and "mana" work in the same way an engineer can explain why a machine works. If you can ground fantasy in reality, explain its limitations, and make it believable,...

Go on, Try a Linux!

To All Windows users, Mac OSX users, BSD users, and anyone else with a compy: Life long learning is an essential skill for anyone to have, and sometimes all it takes is trying something different once in a while. With the weekend coming and, for some, spring break coming, you may find yourself with ...

Re: Left 4 Dead

I wish I could get this game for my PC. I've played it enough on my friend's Xbox 360, and I played on the free weekend on Steam, but right now, $50 is a bit much for me. Gordon needs some zombie slaughter too... :( On that note, does anyone know how resale works on Steam i.e. you want to sell a gam...

Re: QUESTION THREAD!

Could have asked at the Ubuntu forums, but since I'm here... I have a dual boot with Windows XP / Ubuntu 8.10, and I have the GRUB MBR load up, letting me access Ubuntu as default. Windows, in it's own sadistic way, decided it didn't want to detect my USB wireless device and to reject any attempt t...

Re: So, is Flora and Trace's kid going to be a Neko?

Genetics be damned! Science always has the answer! Of course, Gordon Freeman would say "Science always has the answer!" What, you don't think I could have escaped a resonance cascade, beaten up, shot and vapourized everything from from headcrabs to Vortigaunts, evaded the military, saved ...

Re: Got a box, need a use.

Thanks to everyone to gave their idea. With the weekend, maybe I can implement some of the better ones. Except FastChapter. As much as these boxes resemble the dead, they can still push amps and bench-press volts. I don't want to leave them so mentally scarred they can only run Windows ME. :P Instal...

Re: Useful Firefox extensions

FireFTP : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684 I'm surprised no-one's listed this one. It's a fully functional, powerful, integrated FTP client for Firefox. Chatzilla : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16 An IRC client for Firefox. Has built-in links to major IRC networks.

Re: Web Browsers

Firefox for me. It had tabbed browsing before IE, it's got loads of add-ons like FireFTP, Chatzilla and Foxmarks (bookmarks synchronizer), and is regularly updated. It's also missing a lot of the security holes that Microsoft seem leave in. I know of Google Chrome, but I steered clear of it when I r...

Re: OS, what do you have!?

I use Ubuntu as my main OS, just because I wanted to expand beyond the shrunken box of Windows operations, and it's turned out well. :) Most programs I use in Windows for general user-level stuff like browsing and IRC and stuff have some nice Linux equivalents. The only reason I keep Windows XP on t...

Got a box, need a use.

I've got several working compys lying around my house like corpses, with no purpose. I have no idea what to do with them, and I want to somewhat validate their existence. Does anyone have any idea what to do with a spare box?
